SCHOOL VISITS
I run in person and virtual workshops in either English or French.
Author-Illustrator workshop
The author illustrator visit includes reading one of my own books, followed by small activities relating to the book, and a Q&A session.
This will be followed by a drawing exercise where we will learn how to draw the main character of the story.
Perfect for reception, and Year 1 children.
Length of workshop: One hour
KS1 Drawing workshop
The drawing session is an in person event and consists of teaching children basic drawing skills. They will learn how to draw fun and simple animals using a variety of lines and 2D or 3D shapes.
This workshop can be done in either French of English or both in case you wanted to introduce some French words to the children as part of a language activity.
Ideal for Years 1, 2 and 3
Length of workshop: 50 minutes
KS2 Drawing workshop
The drawing session is an in person event and consists of teaching children drawing skills.
After a brief recalling of basic lines and shapes and a quick warm up exercise, the children will use their observational skills to draw animals of their choice (animals chosen ahead of the drawing session and images/photographs must be brought to class).

Length of workshop: 50 minutes
Secondary School : Introduction to illustrating children’s books
This introduction to illustrating children’s books is a presentation and talk about all the things that need to happen to illustrate a picture book, a children’s book or a chapter book. It covers all the things an illustrator needs to do from the beginning of a project to the delivery of the final artwork.

Testimonials
KS1 and KS2 French drawing Workshops
“Leila has run very successful drawing workshops at our school for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils. The sessions are well-planned and structured, highly engaging and hugely enjoyable for both pupils and staff alike.
The children love watching Leila create her beautiful illustrations and, as a result, they are inspired to produce careful sketches and drawings of their own.
Leila cleverly weaves French vocabulary into her explanations and instructions to help develop pupils' skills and knowledge.
She carefully tailors her sessions to suit the age and language experience of the classes.
A wonderful way to develop both artistic and linguistic skills of your pupils. Highly recommended.”

Secondary school / Introduction to illustrating picture books workshop
“Leila did an inspiring introduction on picture books and the work that goes into illustrating them and then led engaging activities that allowed the students to use their imagination and artistic skills.
The students loved the drawing exercises and prompts provided and ended up designing some very interesting characters, each with a different story in mind.
I would recommend Leila to any school that is looking for a workshop or an activity that teaches how to illustrate children's picture books.”
- Miss R. Iles - Simon Balle All-through School, Hertford.
