Curious Elf
On a cold winter’s night, Benny, a small elf working in Santa’s grotto, set out to deliver his packages. He was walking through a quiet, beautiful pine forest, the stars above him shimmered like little lanterns, and the snow made soft crunching sounds under his boots.
He soon reached a sweet little house well hidden under the branches of a large and snow covered tree.
Without making a sound, Benny opened the door and looked inside. There was no one awake. He tiptoed as quietly as he could and gently set the presents under the Christmas tree.
“Mission accomplished!” thought Benny.
It was time to leave, but Benny was a curious elf. He wanted to know who lived in this house. Looking around he couldn’t make out who they were. He climbed a small ladder to take a peek and found ….
… three little squirrels tucked under a cosy quilt, their furry tails peeking out like fluffy ribbons.
He made his way back down the ladder , but his foot slipped, he lost his balance and fell on his back at the bottom of the ladder with a loud thump.
The noise had awaken the little squirrels who were now looking at him a bit surprised to find him there.
“Oh no! Santa won’t be happy! “ thought Benny.
The squirrels helped benny up as best they could.
Benny introduced himself and gave each one his Christmas present. The squirrels were delighted. They offered him a cup of warm cocoa before he picked up his bag and left, promising the return next year on Christmas Eve again.
